Mission Statement

The River Bats intend to re-establish Baton Rouge as a prominent, professional baseball city. To achieve this goal we will rebuild the city's oldest professional baseball venue, Pete Goldsby Field. We will offer economical, family entertainment through quality baseball and provide aspiring players the opportunity to play at the professional level while honing their skills and showcasing their talent to major league organizations. We will partner with local and national businesses to further commerce and trade in the community, to facilitate our goals and assure the continuation of our organization and sponsors.
Pete Goldsby Field - Wednesday, May 14, 2008 - The SWAC Tournament will use Goldsby Field as an alternate site for its 2008 tournament which is scheduled for Thursday thru Sunday at Southern University.

SLB NewsFriday August 10, 2006 - Pete Goldsby Field - Daniel defeated Westside 10 - 9 last night to advance to the championship round against Westside. West Hotard drove in Chase Hebert in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Daniel the win. Rick McGraw was the winning pitcher in relief of P. J. Judice and starting pitcher Brady Delohmme. Bryan Morrison started on the mound for Westside before giving way to Justin Beitzel in the top of the seventh.

Justin Beitzel, Edwin Morton and Joshua Franks were the leading hitters for Gerry Lane. Franks had two double's and drove in 4 runs. Joel Fisk had two hits including a double and 5 RBI's for Daniel.

Matt Greenwich will be the starting pitcher for Daniel in tonight's game and Taylor Canchola will start for Westside.

River Bats NewsSaturday August 5,2006 - Pete Goldsby Field - Westside Merchants defeated Daniel Pharmacy 6-3 to advance to the title game scheduled for Sunday at 6:30 PM. Daniel and the Gerry Lane Hummers will play an elimination game at 4:30 pm to gain the right to face Westside in the championship game scheduled for 7:00 pm. The winner will have to beat Westside twice to claim the championship.

Saturday's game featured a pitching dual between Daniel Pharmacy's Roland Rodrigue and Westside Merchant's Stephen Boyd. Both teams were scoreless until Daniel scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Second Baseman Justin McAdams led off the inning by reaching first base after being hit by a pitch. Shortstop Zach Stockton doubled driving in McAdams. Stockton was picked off at second base before leftfielder's Courtney Oubre's single to right field. Centerfielder Matt Greenwich's double drove in Oubre to give Daniel a 2 - 0 lead.

Westside came back to tie the score in the top of the sixth inning. Lead off batter Kyle Keller led off the inning with a single followed by a single off of the bat of second baseman Jonathan Bayhi. Both runners advanced a base when Bayhi's hit got past Daniel right fielder Chase Hebert. Third baseman John Pizzolato's single drove in Keller with Bayhi advancing to third base. First baseman Adam Pizzolato walked to load the base's. After a strikeout for the first out, Lyndel Keller drove in Bayhi with a sacrifice fly to end the scoring and tie the game at 2 - 2. In the top of the ninth inning, Daniel relief pitcher, Brad McDavid, hit lead off batter Kevin Gerald and walked leftfielder Chris Gaspard. After striking out Kyle Keller, McDavid gave up a run scoring single to Jonathan Bayhi driving in Gerald with Gaspard advancing to third. Gaspard scored on a wild pitch and after reaching third base on a passed ball, Bayhi scored on a wild pitch. Adam Pizzolato singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch before scoring the final run on a single off of the bat of catcher Andrew Rafaleowski.

Daniel scored one run in the bottom half of the final inning but left the tieing runs on base. Hays Brian led off the inning with a single followed by a single by third baseman Eric Bourgeois. Brian advanced to third on the hit and scored on a sacrifice fly to right field off of the bat of Zack Stockton. Catcher Joel Fisk grounded out second to first base and first baseman Roland Rodrigue hit a fly ball to shallow right field that Westside rightfielder Kevin Gerald made a diving catch on to end the game.

River Bats NewsFriday August 4, 2006 - Pete Goldsby Field - Last night Westside defeated Gerry Lane 12-9 to advance to todays game against Daniel Pharmacy. James Landry was the winning pitcher in relief of Stephen Boyd who had entyered the game in the sixth after relieving starter Taylor Canchola. Leading hitter for Westside was Adam Pizzolato with three hits including a two run double in the top of the eighth inning. John Pizzolato and Andrew Rafaleowski had two hits each for Westside. Daniel starting pitcher Brian Morrison pitched seven strong innings before giving way to losing pitcher Jordan Aillet in the top of the eight with a 9 - 7 lead. Joshua Franks had 3 hits and Oscar Reed, Jake Garcia, Justin Beitzel, and Holden Jewell each had two hits for Gerry Lane.

Daniel Pharmacy will send to the mound Roland Rodrigue in tonights game. Holden Jewell will be the starting pitcher for the Hummers.

River Bats NewsFriday July 28, 2006 - Pete Goldsby Field - Thursday night's game between Daniel Pharmacy and Gerry Lane was washed out by a late afternoon thunderstorm. There will be no games Friday. League play resumes Saturday with two games starting at 4:30 PM. In the first game Daniel (11-8-2) plays Westside (6-10-1) and in game 2 Westside plays Gerry Lane (5-15). The Southland Hogs completed their season with a record of 11-0-1.

Monday ( July 31) Gerry Lane and Westside will meet at 6:30 PM. Daniel and Westside will play on Tuesday at 6:30 PM to complete the regular season. There will be no games on Wednesday. Thursday (Aug. 3) Gerry Lane and Westside will play the first game in the championship playoffs. The winner will face Daniel on Friday and the losers of game 1 and 2 will play Saturday at 3:30 p.m.. The winner of Saturday's first game will play at 6:30 p.m.. If necessary the final game will be played Sunday at 4:30 p.m. for the championship.
